For Fiscal Year 2021, when compared to the prior year through June 30, North Carolina experienced an increase in General Fund receipts which includes tax and non-tax receipts. Tax revenues increased by $5.9 billion or 25.4 percent, and non-tax revenues decreased by $92 million, or 9.7 percent as compared to the previous year.
The General Fund’s unreserved fund balance as of June 2021 was $6.3 billion as compared to $1.5 billion as of June 2020.
